The Tribe Evamos Longtail frame showing its 24-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels

Rides like a normal bike

All in a bike barely larger than a regular bike. The 20-inch rear wheel keeps the centre of gravity low with heavy loads, and the low step-through frame makes getting on and off easy.

    Road legal

    Built to Australian Standards.

This bike is legal to ride on the road in all states and territories in Australia.

It complies with EN 15194, the standard Australian e-bike regulations are written around, which is what makes it road legal everywhere in the country rather than in some states and not others.

States are steadily writing that standard into their road rules, some already in force and others with dates set. This bike meets it today, so it does not become someone else's problem as the rest catch up.

Not sure what that means for where you ride? Ask us and we will talk you through it.

    • Great bike and even better customer service!

Both me and I daughter just love this bike! It has become our daily driver for all of our errands and school drop offs/pick ups. It handles beautifly, and has plenty of power for the steep hills that we have in our neighborhood. And the customer service has been absoolutely stellar, from the bike delivery to adressing a few questions I had to correcting a couple of minor issues with the bike. Absolutely recomend the bike and the Tribe as a company. Two thumbs up!!

Mighty Gigantor. .. .. Our Tribe Evamos.

My two boys who are big lads at 4 and 5 years of age and myself were in line for the new upgraded Tribe Evamos with the extra torque BUT took advantage of the sale and purchased the old Evamos with the M400 and although as humans we always want more bigger better etc. this has been a mighty solid decision. We are very experienced cargo bikers having done 1000s of Km's on a really long 26-inch wheel Haz-e which I now use as my work bike for carting loads between the warehouse and dispatch/office , I pulled the trigger on the lower torque model as in my mind I knew the original reason I contacted the Tribe team was the mullet wheel set up for a less tippy ride with my over confidant growing lads and the shorter footprint so I do not upset anyone on the trains and can haul it behind a vehicle on a rack to do the rail trails and it is perfect, hopefully over reaction and lack of understanding does not have us banned from the trains as this would truly give me a case of the runs. My boys climb on and off easily with the wicked good over engineered stand, they wiggle stand up and turn around to play and I literally feel little to no wobble while riding accept if I am stationary and have

      Evamos Longtail

Loving the Evamos - our 5-year-old can’t get enough. It’s like having a second car (3 kids in the back and groceries in the front basket) and manages the steep hills of Sydney with ease. Looks stylish too. Battery life is good. Nick and the team have also been a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommend.

Wonderful bike for the whole family

The Tribe Evamos Longtail is such a brilliant bike. It looks great, is easy and safe to ride, and my 5 year old is always so excited to go on it. The gears and battery are simple and easy to use, my son gets himself in and out of his seat by himself using the wooden step, no problem at all. It's a very happy bike and people will always stop to ask about it or give a compliment on how lovely the bike looks to ride, not to mention its bright and happy colour! . .. .. Its also great to support a local business and Nick has been very helpful all the way since our first enquiry! We love our Tribe bike and can't wait to ride it down to Newy beach again soon :)

Since the beginning, the team has been very helpful and communicative. We had to wait a bit for our bike to come, but since we got it, we are the happiest! The family is loving the bike and I know if something happens and we have any issues, the team will be on top of it!! Fully recommend it :)

      Tribe Evamos longtail cargo bike

We just bought the cargo long tail to do school and preschool runs and head to the beach. We fit all three kids on including a baby seat and they love it. I find it a lot easier to ride than I thought I would and get up a hill with all 3 kids. So happy we bought this bike!

    Things people ask

    General Product

Why should I get this over a fat bike?

Fat bikes have grown in popularity over the last few years but most are not legal to ride on the roads in Australia. Don’t risk it with an illegal bike! They are also generally not setup well to carry kids and cargo.

    Is the Evamos stable?

We have deliberately kept the centre of gravity low with a small 20″ rear wheel which keeps the Evamos as stable as possible. Take off with confidence and once you get going you’ll have no wobbles!

    Who is the Evamos for?

Families carrying one or two kids who want a bike that still rides and parks like a normal bike. The kids sit behind you on the rear rack rather than in a box up front, so it is narrower than the Original and fits in a normal bike space. The Evamos can also carry a 3rd child as long as the kids don’t mind squashing up a bit! If you want to add more kids we recommend you consider the Tribe Original.

Is the Evamos legal to ride on the road?

The Tribe Evamos complies with all Australian e-bike regulations under Australian Standard EN15194, so it can be legally ridden on the road in every state.

Can I take the Evamos on the back of a car?

Yes. Using a hitch rack you can take it much further afield. We use a Buzzrack Escorpion for ours. We’ve heard Hollywood racks also work. The Evamos is 195cm long, so check the total width and length your rack allows.

    Kids & The Rear Rack

Can I put child seats and crew cab bars on?

Yes, we have designed the Evamos to have two Thule Yepp2 Maxi child seats, and the Crew Cab bars. We recommend always installing the Crew cab. If you have an accident they will provide extra protection.

When will kids grow out of the bike?

This all depends on your kids and their independence. We still ride our kids to school and the beach who are over 10 now. They love jumping on the back and making mum and dad do the work!

Can I carry an adult on the back?

As long as they weigh less than 80kg, absolutely. Date night by cargo bike is lots of fun!

Are kids’ fingers and toes safe near the wheel?

There is an integrated wheel skirt over the rear wheel specifically to keep small fingers and toes away from the spokes. Always check before you ride that the wheel skirt is appropriately attached.

Can I fit a front rack too?

Yes. The optional front porteur rack carries integrated MIK, so the crates and baskets clip straight on (and off when you want to bring everything inside). We use the Basil Large crates which can easily fit 2 schoolbags or a few bags of groceries.

    What is the MIK system?

MIK is a mounting standard built into the front rack. It lets you swap baskets, crates and bags in seconds without tools, so the same bike does the school run in the morning and the grocery shop in the afternoon.

At what age can a child ride on the back?

This depends on when you are comfortable. You really need your child to be able to be able to fit a helmet to your child for them to ride on the back. Neck strength usually gets to this point at about 9 months of age. For young kids we definitely recommend a child seat, the Thule Yepp 2 Maxi. Once your child is 4-5 they should be able to sit on the bench with just the crew cab bars and do not need a child seat.

What children’s seats work on the Evamos?

The Thule Yepp 2 Maxi child seat that we sell on our store fits. Be careful with child seats, you need one that can clamp onto the thick rear rails that the Evamos has. Child seats that attach to the seatpost are not compatible. If you’re looking for a little extra security for your older kids consider the Urban Iki Junior seat available on our store.

Do children need to be strapped in?

The only road rule in Australia for carrying kids or adults on a bike is that they wear an approved helmet.

How many children can fit on the rear rack?

Two children comfortably, using child seats or sitting on the bench. With just the bench and the Crew Cab bars you can squeeze a third on.

How much weight can the Evamos carry?

Total maximum payload is 200kg, including the rider, clothing, riding gear, accessories and cargo. The rear rack alone takes up to 80kg.

    Electric Motor & Battery

XYZ bike offers a 750w motor, does it have 3 times the power of an Evamos?

Well it USES 3 times the energy, but it does not give you 3 times the power. Most of these bikes have hub motors, which are much less efficient than the mid drive motor that the Evamos has. A 750w hub motor actually provides less torque than a 250w mid drive motor and the ride is nowhere near as smooth! Plus a 750w motor is not legal to ride on the roads in Australia no matter what the seller says!

Will it get me up my hill?

95Nm is a lot of torque for a bike this weight, and the nine speed range is there so you can gear down. Loaded with two kids on a steep hill you will still be pedalling, but you will get up it. If you’re unsure, email us your bike route and we’ll help you assess the gradients with the help of google maps.

Can I carry a second battery?

Yes, there is a cradle available to carry a spare, which effectively doubles your range for a big day. Note the second battery must be moved to the main battery mount to use it. It takes about 30 seconds for a battery swap.

How far will one charge take me?

Up to about 50km, depending on load, terrain and how much assist you use. Evamos bikes from 26 July 2026 carry a 468Wh (13Ah) battery; bikes bought before then have the 375Wh (10.5Ah) pack and around 40km.

What is a torque sensor and why does it matter?

The torque sensor reads how hard you are pushing on the pedals and feeds the motor in to match. It feels like your own legs got stronger rather than like a throttle switching on and off.

What motor does the Evamos have?

A 250W Bafang M510 mid drive with over 95Nm of torque, assisting up to 25km/h. It is near silent.

    Do I have to pedal?

Yes, a Tribe Bike is not a motorbike! By pedalling, the torque sensor in the crank determines how much electric assist to provide.

    Bike Specifications

    What maintenance is required?

The Evamos just needs standard bike maintenance. Keep the tyres pumped up, the chain oiled and occasionally tighten the spokes and adjust the gears. The user guide provides a recommended service schedule.

Why are the wheels different sizes?

The Evamos is a ‘Mullet’ bike! Business at the front, party at the back. The 24″ front wheel ensures it handles like a normal bike, with the 20″ rear wheel ensuring the centre of gravity is kept low for maximum stability.

    What about punctures?

Puncture resistant Kenda balloon tyres, 2.1 and 2.25 inch. The 20 inch rear wheel keeps the centre of gravity low under load and the 24 inch front wheel smooths out bumps.

    What brakes does it have?

Front and rear Tektro HD-M285 hydraulic disc brakes with 160mm rotors. They stop well in the wet and need very little maintenance.

    What gears does it have?

Nine speed Shimano Cues, chosen for cargo bikes. Enough range to get up steep hills and still hold a decent speed on the flat.

I am really short or really tall. Will the Evamos work for me?

It is designed as a one size fits all. There is plenty of adjustment in the stem, seatpost and saddle, and a quick release seatpost clamp so two riders can swap in seconds. We have found it comfortable for riders from roughly 5’2″ to 6’5″. We also offer an optional dropper seatpost for quick transition between shorter and taller riders.

    What does the Evamos weigh?

About 30kg, excluding accessories. Close to 35kg with rack, battery, sideboards and seat cushion attached.

What are the dimensions of the Evamos?

Roughly the footprint of a men’s large mountain bike: 195cm long, 65cm wide at the handlebars and about 110cm high.

    Delivery

Can someone else assemble it for me?

Yes. We work with mobile bike mechanics across the country. Expect around $150 depending on location. Email us and we will tell you whether there is one near you.

    What assembly is required?

The Evamos arrives 90% assembled with all the tools you need and an assembly guide video. Most people do it in the lounge room.
