Black Friday: the Tribe Original Version 2 is $4,990

29 October 2026 · by Nick Kalaf

The Tribe Original Version 2 is $4,990 for Black Friday. That’s $500 off the usual $5,490, and it runs until 11:59pm on Monday 1 December or until the last ones go, whichever comes first.

It’s the lowest price the mid-drive Tribe Original has ever been. It’s been $5,490 since 2022, through all the inflation since then.

Why it’s on sale

Version 3 has just landed, with a bigger motor, more gears and a bigger battery, and it’s $5,990. We’d rather clear the last Version 2s at a good price than have them sit in the shed while everyone looks at the new one. So for Black Friday there’s now $1,000 between the two.

What you get for $4,990

The same bike families have been riding since 2022:

It’s trusted by thousands of customers, and we’ve got plenty of spare parts for it, so it’ll be easy to keep running for years.

Version 2 or Version 3?

Version 3 is the better climber: the Bafang M510 gives it 110Nm instead of 80Nm, it has Shimano Deore 10-speed gears, and its 15Ah (540Wh) battery carries about 15% more energy. If your school run has a real hill in it, or you’re carrying three or four kids most days, it’s worth the extra.

If your rides are mostly flat, or you’d rather put the $1,000 towards something else, Version 2 does the job it’s done for years. The frame, the box and the four colours are the same, and every Tribe Original accessory fits both.

How many are left

There aren’t many. We’ve got Oak, Jarrah, Black and White, with only a handful of some colours, and once Version 2 is gone it’s gone, because Version 3 replaces it.

Getting one

Head to the Tribe Original page, choose Version 2, then pick your colour. You can spread the cost with a GreenRoad Loan, and if you’d like to try one first, book a test ride.

Questions after that one?

Tribe locals are owners who have ridden the same roads, not salespeople, and they will tell you what it is really like. Ask them anything about living with the bike, and if one is close by, arrange a quick test ride before you commit. Every message goes through Tribe Bikes, so nobody sees anyone's number.
