The Heritage 2.0 is Thousand’s commuter helmet, styled on an old motorcycle lid. It’s the one most parents end up picking for themselves.
The PopLock is the clever part. A small plug in the back of the shell pops out, so you can thread your bike lock through the helmet and leave it hanging with the bike, instead of carrying it round the supermarket by the strap.
The buckle is magnetic and closes one-handed. You’ll notice that the first time you do it while holding a scooter. The dial at the back tightens the helmet to fit, and there’s a low visor moulded into the shell.
Version 2.0 brought more venting, a reshaped head fit and new padding, so it sits comfortably on a wider range of heads than the first one did.
Measure around your head about 2cm above your eyebrows. If you land between two sizes, take the larger one and bring it in with the dial.
Every Thousand helmet carries a lifetime guarantee. Damage it in an accident and they’ll replace it with a new one. Have it stolen while it was locked to your bike through the PopLock, and they’ll replace that too. A helmet is meant to be replaced after any decent knock, and this takes the cost of doing the right thing out of the decision.
